I have been trying to get Warhammer 2 mods to download for a few days now with no success. I have downloaded other games, and the workshop downloads for them just fine. Today I decided to download Shogun 2 and Attila and see if they would download mods, they would not. So my issue seems to be with the workshop and or launcher and Total War games specifically.
I have reinstalled both steam and Warhammer 2 4 times now. Steam, Warhammer 2, and the Total War Launcher are all run as administrator. My firewall has every port from Steam and Warhammer set to open. Have even tried with it completely disabled.
Have reset my router, and plugged my pc directly into the modem. Have unsubscribed and resubscribed to many different mods. Have manually deleted workshop files, total war warhammer mods will not download, well the empty main file for Warhammer 2 since no other folders ever appeared in it after subscribing. Along with Steam files that needed to be deleted to refresh the workshop. Have cleared the download cache on Steam. All drivers are up to date.
None of the above worked, and I'm sure there is plenty other things that I have tried that are not coming to mind. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. DxDiag attached.

Sega support told me to go to the forums. No reply on Reddit. Would be really nice to get a solution that works. February edited February Can you actually launch the game as vanilla?
If so could you post your preferences. Edit: also, which drive are the game and Steam on? Yes the game launches and runs perfectly fine in both dx 11 and dx 12 mode. Just wasnt sure where to post this issue so I posted it in the crash section since I didn't see a support section for mods.
Only the one document was in that folder so here it is. Both steam and the game are on drive c right now. I have tried with them in every manner of configuration on both my drives. Game on c, steam on g, both on g, steam on c game on g.
No mods download with any of the configurations for Total War games only. They download fine for any game that is not a Total War title. Thanks for the reply. Post edited by Grommsh on February So I decided to use a website that downloads mods from the workshop and then I download them from the website. I installed the mods into the data folder, and then as soon as I launch the game, it deletes all of them from the data folder. So the issue seems to be with the game and mods in general and not entirely with the workshop.

Edit: Nope, subscribing makes it so that the play button is greyed out and trying to go offline makes it so the game does not launch.
Steam says it is running when i press play, but the process is not in my task manager at all. Tried using the community mod manager and it does not even recognize that I have any mod in my data folder. Does not matter what mod I put in there, it and the CA launcher both do not recognize that there are mods in there. And then if i launch the game with my internet connection on, it deletes them from the folder.
If i launch the game with my internet connection off, it will not launch at all. Does not matter what mod it is. Have tried over 30 different mods one at a time, and the game will not start with any mod in that folder.
Have you tried launching Steam not using Run as Administrator? Do you have any start parameters set? Have you tried with your AntiVirus disabled or with exceptions set? Have you repaired your Steam Library? How much space is free in your Cloud storage? Have you got a modified log in the log folder? Have tried without it in admin mode for steam, the game, total war warhammer mods will not download, the launcher and any combination possible of those 3.
Do not have any special start parameters set. Warhammer and steam are added to exceptions list on firewall and all ports are open. Have also tried with it completely turned off. Have repaired the game and steam multiple times. Nearly all the space is available in my cloud storage. No log that I have modified is in the logs. The modified log is a text file called "modified". It's odd that you do not have one as it should re-create when you do a vanilla launch and clean exit.
I asked if you had repaired the Steam Library folder, not the game nor the Steam app. Open Steam using Run as Administrator. Select the folder containing the game installation, right-click, and select Repair Library Folder. Have you tried adding the launcher. Is this the Windows Firewall that you are talking about? Sorry, guess I was looking in the wrong place.
Was looking in the steam logs and the warhammer 2 folder, total war warhammer mods will not download. Found the log in appdata. The text file itself has nothing on it.
I just repaired the library itself and ran the game afterwards. Already have steam, warhammer 2 and the launcher executables added to my exceptions list in windows defender. Steam will start to download mods, and will show the actual size of the mod. I will provide some screenshots. So after a couple total war warhammer mods will not download of digging around, I found a way to make the mods show up on the community mod manager.
I have to use a hex editor to remove the first 8 cases up to PHF5 that the steam workshop adds on every mod, and then they appear. Now if I launch the game while steam is in online mode, it still auto deletes any mods from my data file.
However, if I launch the game while in offline mode, the edited mods do seem to work for now. Would still like to know why steam is deleting mods when online and why the workshop fails to download mods for Total War games. Are these your own mods you are trying to upload to Steam Workshop or just general mods in the Workshop that you are trying to download?
Have you tried with any standard workshop mods since you have done all the various bits and pieces? Are you running any Steam betas or anything? I am trying to download workshop mods off of the steam app, but it is not working.
The mods that I got to work are not my own, they are workshop mods that I downloaded from a site that pulls them from the workshop, and then I download them from there.
